Nebs is my main travel mascot (when I remember to bring him along). He's been with me on quite a few adventures now. This is him taken when I was walking the Overland Track in Tasmania whilst leading a group of first time hikers. We caught some of the worst days of weather in that entire month. There was heavy snowfall and strong winds all while walking over exposed positions but through the grace of God we still walked a 6 day trail in our planned 3 days =D
I thought about what to put up for Monday's post...so when doing free word association...Mondays lead to Monday Blues...Blues lead to Cool colour tones...cool lead to cold and cold to snow and snow to frostbitten. I think I might just have toooo much free time on my hands at work.
Happy Mondays to everyone!

hey this is a cuute photo! :) why nebs? is that the official name of this smurf? I didn't know smurfs had names!?

@spots: Hi spots! Glad you liked the photo. Its not the official smurf name (if they even have official names). I was searching for a name for my mascot so I asked around and my neighbour suggested Nebuchadnezzar (for reasons unknown)...and so in keeping with that lovely aussie custom of reducing names...he became nebs or nebbo for short...but I prefer nebs...so nebs it was. He's the frostbitten explorer because...while you can't really make out the detail...he's holding a compass and he's got a hiker's backpack on his back...and he's blue all over...so I thought well since I've got a reputation for being 'garang'...I figured he's also be a representation of me =D. So there you have it. Nebs the frost-bitten explorer - boldly going where no smurf has gone before albeit somewhat unwillingly =D
Wayne - good one! We would call Nebs a smurf over here....great word association..

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Hi Alfredo, glad it made you smile! =D I grew up in the smurf generation too =D although I liked The Peanuts Gang and Sesame Street better =D. Also I had lots of free time today...it was a slow day coming into the week at work =D
Enjoying shot! My children continues to love them...me too!

@badala: Thanks!
I love the blue hue, the shot looks really cold.

@Donna: Thanks! Yeah it was freezing...this was taken the first night we were on the trail...its was a miracle my hands had stopped long enough to take a stable shot. The weather turned for the worst just as we had climbed above Cradle Mountain...which was just about the worst place to be when the wind hits you because the trail takes you right along the ridge line. =D It was definately an experience for me!
nice happy photo

@Dimitrios: thanks dimitrios!
Hey! (: I remember Nebs! He was pretty garang indeed. Oh, I've been thinking about shifting to aminus3, but um, time on my hands or rather what little I have does not seem to allow me to do so just yet. Maybe in a while(: A suggestion about the photo tho, you might wanna brighten in up a tiny bit, while keeping the coolblue. Just a suggestion tho!

@tngying: Hi Michelle, thanks for commenting. I'm trying to put up my older photos first and concentrate more on the 'purist' aspect of the photo...I'll learn more about post-production stuff (which is beyond the awesomely cool range of things to do) when I've improved my technique to a sufficiently adequate level. I'm relearning all the old tricks now that I'm taking up photography again. But thanks for the tip! You're right, the gloominess of the photo does detract from the 'cool' feeling of the photo.
Blue Monday No More! The photo brightened my day! Hope you have a wonderful day!

@M.E.: Thanks M.E.! I'm glad it made you smile =D
Nebs seems like a pretty solid traveling companion. It's tough to tell if he's really cold or if that's just his natural shade. Maybe we'll get to see some more pictures to sort it out. =)

@Aaron Schmidt: I'll put another photo up for you to examine in a couple of days =D It'll be one from Goa, India where I'm currently working =D! Bright sunshine...blue tan =D Yeah I got him because a) he had a backpack and a compass and b) he had no movable parts and was small...so he's a pretty hardy lad.
Thanks for commenting and visiting Aaron!
cute. nice perspective. he must be angry at you for leaving him to get frost bitten=PP
