Rain not on my parade

Posted by Wayne (Melbourne, Australia) on 23 March 2007 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

Tonight my area suffered a power blackout that lasted for roughly 5 hours. It was quite a long day for Melburnians...today there was a huge accident in one of our highway tunnels and from the initial reports there were 3 deaths. In the arvo (aussie for afternoon) there was a high pressure gas leak in a residential area (Malvern) that caused a breakdown in train and tram lines.

And because of the power blackout...several street lights were knocked out and I personally witnessed some very very near misses (I was out jogging when the power was cut). And then it started to rain.

But its really all about perspectives. My gripe about losing power and therefore losing precious study time is insignificant in the light of knowing that somewhere out there at least 3 people who left their house today will never be returning home to their beds. When I see the rain tonight...I choose to see it as the much needed respite from the drought that's afflicting my marvelous city of Melbourne and the great state of Victoria.

So rain on =D
