The Fun They Have

Posted by Wayne (Melbourne, Australia) on 27 March 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

This post and its caption was inspired in part by one of the very first Scifi stories I ever read as a kid (a 14 year love affair now) - Isaac Asimov's The Fun They Had and partly because I got a new laptop over the weekend complete with Vista (ironically enough given the Macbook in the photo).

Anyway...the way I see it...technology...where applied properly (unlike Asimov's story) isn't a deadening tool for the soul-numbed worker drones but an avenue for life and fun. Don't get me wrong I'm no technologist...I believe that the reason why technology can be fun is because of the people that it enables a person to collaborate with whether it be from the oohs and aahs of a 'cool' function to the simple and timeless displays of photos which evoke more real memories than virtual.

It's that human factor that makes it real and personal. It's also why I love the community support here on aminus3. Its a technologically reliant community (the photos are all digitalized and likewise there is a technological requirement to access said photos in the first place)...but at the end of the day...its the people who really give value to it.

So...thank you heaps to everyone who's been commenting on my blog =D you make aminus3 more than just the sum of its digital binary digits =D
