Dancin' the Night Away

Posted by Wayne (Melbourne, Australia) on 4 April 2007 in People & Portraits.

Now admittedly the link between my post and the photo entry is a thin and somewhat tenuous one...it is simply this....I want to dance and I want someone to dance with...and this was the only photo I had in my entire collection of photos which features me in a vague dance like pose.

The lack of dance photos says volumes...among other things...how sheltered a life I have lead in that I've never really gone clubbing (nor would I know what to do in a club)...but the reality is that I really do I want to dance. I know it sounds a bit weird coming from someone who believes wholeheartedly in military service but for quite sometime now...I've always wanted to learn how to dance...ballroom...latin...swing...lindy hop...I love how two people can be so alive in those few moments and so graceful too.

The dance that really got me started was Argentine Tango...if you're wondering why that sounds so familiar...then its probably because you've seen it in Scent of a Woman...just like I did all those years ago.

Amongst the many other things I hope to do...including getting my pilot's license...I hope to be able to lead my future partner in a dance without stepping on her toes (which I did to a good friend about a billion embarrassing years ago). My theory is this...I may be a hopeless romantic...but at least I'll be a graceful one at it.
