Ai Mee

Posted by Wayne (Melbourne, Australia) on 1 December 2007 in People & Portraits and Portfolio.

This is Ai Mee take at the haircutting/fundraising/dinner gathering I described in the last post.

I like this image because it captures the life and vibrancy that Ai Mee exudes. Plus...although my photos are not worthy of National Geographic standards...it really reminds me of those National Geographic shots on human interest pieces. I could go on forever on how National Geographic has been so influential not just in the way I shoot or even why I want to shoot but how I even approach life and the world around me.

I'm flying off today from Melbourne back to Singapore. Its always a weird time for me...more so because today I'm also shifting house....which is a first for me in terms of having the two event occur on the same day. I've been preparing all my gear to be shipped across for the transfer and in my mind's eye I liken it very much to the signing of a contract and the due dilligence that follows before. I will forever remember how my mentor at Allen & Gledhill described the whole process because that's when I got hooked onto corporate law. Personally I think its like prisoner exchange =) Everyone makes slow tentative moves until the actual exchange and when it happens...everyone stays calm until both prisoners have reached their sides and then everyone quickly scampers off into the darkness and retreating to the safety of their battlelines. Of course the analogy fails if related to long-term input contracts but that's a whole other barrel of pickles.
