Alexis (No More Blues)

Posted by Wayne (Melbourne, Australia) on 21 January 2009 in Food & Cuisine.

I present to you my latest acquisition, Alexis,....and definitely not the last cast iron kitchen piece I'm going to get.

From the little that I've played around with it...its everything I've been dreaming it would be...the heat retention and diffusion is off the hook...and its just such a wonderful piece to grow old with. I've been eyeing cast iron stuff for close to 3 years now but I've never really dared to venture into it...but I suppose there comes a time when one needs to just commit and dive into the thick of things.

I originally wanted to use an old jazz standard sung by the Real Group called "I've found a new baby" but it wasn't available on youtube...so instead "No more blues" sung by the Real Group will have to do....its a wonderful song and the original Chenga de Saudade is so...poignant and resonates deeply with me.

No More Blues

No more blues
I'm going back home
No, no more blues
I promise no more to roam
Home is where the heart is
The funny part is, my heart's been
Right here all alone
No more tears, and no more sighs
No, no more fears-
I'll say no more goodbye
If travel beckons me, I swear I'm gonna refuse
I'm gonna settle down, and there'll be no more blues
Everyday while I am far away
My thoughts turn homeward, forever homeward
I've traveled round the world in search of happiness
But all the happiness I've found
Is in my hometown
No more blues
I'm going back home
No, no more blues
I'm through with all my wandering now
I'll settle down and never roam
And find a man and build a home
When we settle down, there'll be no more blues
Nothing but happiness
When we settle down, there'll be no more blues
